HALLI – Hedge Village is continuing to expand its list of businesses with the addition of a new banking service inside the community living room, Man Cave. Already home to a casino and bar, the venue is has undergone renovations to accommodate a banking section.
The project is being overseen by Olli Gark, Managing Director of Nordberk Bank, who is supervising both the bank’s opening and the renovation of Man Cave. The development marks another milestone in the village’s efforts to diversify its local services and create a central hub for residents.
However, Gark’s arrival has sparked speculation beyond the banking project itself.
Gark rose to prominence after years of publicly resisting the expansion of Sewell Mining, citing environmental concerns and allegations of human trafficking connected to the company’s operations. His opposition became a major obstacle as the international mining company sought the licenses required to begin work.
Earlier this year, Sewell Mining finally commenced operations in Halli after securing the necessary approvals. Whether Gark’s visit is solely related to the opening of Nordberk Bank or connected to the mining company’s arrival has become the subject of local speculation. No evidence has emerged linking his visit to Sewell Mining, and Gark has not commented publicly on the matter.
Adding another layer to the discussion is Gark’s earlier association with the company. He was among Sewell Mining’s investors in 2020 and has previously attended the company’s networking events. Some observers have suggested that his prolonged opposition to the company may have been motivated by factors beyond his stated environmental concerns and the trafficking allegations. These claims remain speculative, and no evidence has been presented to substantiate them.
