A Sewell Mining employee was injured during an armed exchange between opposing forces just outside the company’s plant. The incident, though believed to be accidental, has raised serious concerns about the safety of workers and operations near active conflict zones.
Sewell Mining’s security detail commented:
“Despite our efforts to de-escalate the situation and request the firefight be moved away from the facility, NRG players made no effort to do so.”
The CEO of Sewell Mining reminds:
The failure to relocate the conflict exposed the plant and its personnel to increased danger, resulting in the injury and damage in the surrounding area.”
Sewell Mining calls for “accountability and heightened safety measures to protect civilians and infrastructure going forward.”
The Sewell Mining worker is in stable condition, and is being treated by the members of White Cross.
